LONDON July 31, 2025 – The London Market Group (LMG) has today announced the results of its second Regulatory Sentiment Indices, which shows significantly improved performance by both the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA).
The survey polled a total of 100 individuals leading compliance and risk teams at London Market insurers and brokers on their sentiments towards and views on the two regulatory bodies. The respondents reported a marked improvement in their regulators’ performance between 2024 and 2025, with the FCA’s Sentiment Index increasing by 20 points to 91/100. Meanwhile, the PRA’s rating improved by 12 points to 73/100 in the same period.
Caroline Wagstaff, CEO of the London Market Group, said: “It is great to see that the service delivered by both regulators has taken a significant step forward over the past year. By directly surveying the firms regulated, we have been able for the first time to quantify and benchmark their performance in the eyes of the specialty insurance market. This is the second survey and we will repeat it annually, feeding results back to the regulators and the wider market.
“The LMG has advocated for metrics as a way of tracking the focus on growth and competitiveness by the regulators, and believes that measuring performance helps to ensure accountability and to highlight areas where the regulators are succeeding, as well as the areas requiring increased focus in future.”
The independent survey was conducted by Opinion Matters between the 8 May and the 13 May 2025, among 50 firms regulated by the PRA, and 50 by the FCA. The FCA contingent was divided equally between broking and underwriting businesses. The question set was based on the questions asked by the FCA and PRA in their own feedback forms, adjusted to ensure statistical integrity.
